Meet the Founder of Resilient Dignity: A Story of Strength and Compassion As a survivor of domestic violence, I have walked the difficult path that many of our clients face. My journey led me to become a professional addiction counselor and a French-trained chef. Currently, I am pursuing a degree in trauma therapy and human behaviors to further my understanding and ability to help others. The idea for Resilient Dignity was born from my own harrowing experience. After finding myself in a domestic violence shelter, I was treated like a homeless addict rather than a capable, successful executive who had faced a difficult private life. The experience was so distressing that I chose to live in my Mercedes with my kitten until I could find a safe place where my abuser couldn't locate me. This ordeal made me realize why many successful individuals are hesitant to seek help from such organizations. It fueled my passion to create a supportive and respectful environment for survivors. My vision for Resilient Dignity extends beyond immediate support. I aim to create an apartment community for survivors and, eventually, a secure neighborhood where they can purchase homes and feel safe. This vision is driven by the understanding of how precious safety is, especially for those who have had it taken away. On a personal note, I have a daughter in college and a new son, my tuxedo cat "Stash." I love cooking, am a lifelong learner, and have a great sense of humor. My experiences have shaped my commitment to helping others rebuild their lives with dignity and resilience.
